I read on someone's blog earlier today that it's strange to wish people a Happy Memorial Day. I agree. But I am grateful that we have this day to remember and rest. And rest is what I've been doing!
We've watch a lot of Buffy (we just started Season 6), played around on the internet, read, watched Law & Order (I can't watch Buffy if Jeff isn't home - it our together thing) and I got to watch Jeff enjoy his new sport - DISC GOLF. YeeHaw. There is an 18-hole course at the end of our street, but it's too far to go for practice throws, so Jeff now has a temporary net for the backyard. It's a hoot!

ABOUT THE BOOK -
What an interesting read. Very intriguing and one that I had a hard time putting down. I enjoyed the twists and turns that the plot took and how I felt involved in the characters lives. If you enjoy suspense - check it out.

Destination Disney -- Disney for Adults
Jeff & I adore Disney World. We've gone for the last four years and we enjoy it more and more each time. We have never had the experience to travel with children, though we have had friends meet up with us for a meal and they brought along their three small kids. So I guess we could qualify for a couple of good tour guides on the road of Adults Only - of course we can (and do) act like small children sometimes. Here's a link to a post I wrote when we got home last year and if you have any questions you would like to ask, please do!

Embrace Me

Embrace Me

ABOUT THIS BOOK (from the CFBA blog)
Biting and gentle, hard-edged and hopeful...a beautiful fable of love and power, hiding and seeking, woundedness and redemption.
When a "lizard woman," a self-mutilating preacher, a tattooed monk, and a sleazy lobbyist find themselves in the same North Carolina town one winter, their lives are edging precariously close to disaster...and improbably close to grace.
Valentine, due to her own drastic self-disfigurement, ahs very few friends in this world and, it appears as if she may be destined to spend the rest of her life practically alone. But life gives her one good friend, Lella, whose own handicap puts her in the same freakish category as Valentine. As part of Roland's Wayfaring Marvel and Oddities Show, a traveling band of misfits, they seem to have found their niches in an often curiously cruel world.
Residing in a world where masks are mandatory, Valentine has a hard time removing hers, because of her disfigured face but more so because of her damaged soul. It is much easier for her to listen endlessly to different versions of a favorite song, Embraceable You, and escape reality. Yet, life has more in store for her when she meets Augustine, replete with the tattoos, dreadlocks, and his own secrets. With his arrival, Valentine's soul takes a turn.

Destination Disney -- Hotels and Resorts
I stole this from myself -
Hotels
According to the "Rules of Jeff" we are only allowed to stay in one of three hotels. Our hotel must be located on the Magic Kingdom Monorail system, so here you go.
Polynesian - My favorite. It's great it you don't have kids and don't mind walking. I can see how it would be difficult with children since you have to walk to get to most anything. We like to stay on the side of the resort closest to the Transportation and Ticket Center. It gives us the option to catch our monorail or walk over and catch that one. It also allowed us to get off a stop early, swing by our rooms to grab our "All you can drink" cups and then walk over to the main lobby. We didn't have to walk in a big circle. Views are pretty of the Castle and the other two resorts. The fast food place "Captain Cooks" has decent food and lots of seating. Beware of the ducks though...they are everywhere and very cute.
Contemporary - Love it. They are doing construction there now, but it's been upgraded and it's well done. The gift shop on the 2nd Floor rocks and is one of my stops every year, whether we are staying there or not.
Grand Floridian - Of the three, this is my least favorite. We even had upgraded rooms. Not worth the extra money to stay there and you are always last on the Transportation system which means you stand...no sitting for you!

Aren't They Pretty
Please ignore the fact that the color is off - I don't usually take photos with my phone, but aren't my flowers beautiful!! I got them yesterday at work.
And you are probably thinking that they were from my husband for our anniversary, right? Wrong! They were from my boss' boyfriend. He was thanking me for all the help I've been this week working with her on a huge project. (Yes - He was a smart one and sent her a beautiful arrangement too.)
Thanks Chris!

Healing Promises

Healing Promises
by
Amy Wallace
ABOUT THE BOOK
Facing a new threat.
When FBI Agent Clint Rollins takes a bullet during a standoff, it might just save his life. But not even the ugly things he’s seen during his years working in the Crimes Against Children Unit could prepare him for the overwhelming powerlessness of hospital tests revealing an unexpected diagnosis. If only Sara weren’t retreating into doctor mode…he needs his wife now more than ever.
Frozen in fear.
Sara Rollins is an oncologist with a mission–beating cancer when she can, easing her patients’ suffering at the very least. Now the life of her tall Texan husband is at stake. She never let the odds steal her hope before, but in this case, the question of God’s healing promises is personal. Can she hold on to the truth she claimed to believe?
Faith under fire.
As Clint continues to track down a serial kidnapper despite his illness, former investigations haunt his nightmares, pushing him beyond solving the case into risking his life and career. Clint struggles to believe God is still the God of miracles. Especially when he needs not one, but two. Everything in his life is reduced to one all-important question: Can God be trusted?
